Question about cleaning services

A dear friend is thinking of starting up an all-natural, all-organic-products local house-cleaning service. How much would you pay - or have you paid in the past - for a contract service (how many times would they come out per month?) and how much for an emergency intervention in which someone came out to do a one-time deep clean?

  1. We pay about 120 every other week for them to come out. For the first cleaning it was about 160 since they were doing a "deep" cleaning. I would think they should price based on square footage, what they want cleaned, and how dirty the place is. I've heard that a big house that is pretty dirty can go for 200-300. Your friend will probably do better if she has deals for frequent users, new mom cleaning, and moving out/in. Hope this helps.

  2. Ooh, thanks Haley!! That is just the kind of info she's looking for (and I've never had one, so I am no help)!

  3. Back in the late 90s I paid $55 once every 2 weeks for a 1-bedroom apartment to be cleaned, with $110 first cleaning. My friend had a 2-bedroom house and paid $80 every 2 weeks.

So that was personal and small and 10 years ago :)

Now, I know that you can pay about $300 for a really good cleaning of a single family house. (4 br, 3 ba) as a first cleaning, with a lower price (150?) for maintenance cleaning (once every 1-2 weeks). A townhouse would probably be less, but think about number of bedrooms/bathrooms versus total square footage.

There's a lot of demand now for people to clean houses that are on the market for sale, especially really gross foreclosures. Just so she knows.

  4. That is a FANTASTIC idea about the foreclosure niche market, Lynne! How goes the kitchen rebuild? Given that the wall is your bitch, I'd guess well? :)
